KOBELCO Construction Machinery Dream-Driven Co-Creation Research Center

Overview of Research Center

KOBELCO Construction Machinery Dream-Driven Co-Creation Research Center is established at Hiroshima University, aiming at strengthening industry-academia collaboration between Hiroshima University and KOBELCO Construction Machinery Co., Ltd. By enabling research activities on a higher level than ever before, the research center will conduct research and development to create construction equipment that realizes a “DREAM” for society.

Objective of the research center establishment

KOBELCO Construction Machinery Dream-Driven Co-Creation Research Center was established as a consolidation and development of industry-academia collaboration between Hiroshima University and KOBELCO Construction Machinery Co., Ltd. To make the dream a driving force for the future, various research projects are implemented studying construction equipment and operators using them for work. Our objectives are "creating inventive, advanced and outstanding research results" by linking specific themes with research seeds and materializing such results into construction equipment. Through these approaches and achievements, we aspire to solve social issues, contribute to industrial progress and develop learning and the education, as well as providing new values brought from the university and the company.

RESEARCH

Outline of Research Themes

Construction equipment enables the same motion as human beings on a much larger scale. Work such as digging holes, carrying luggage, lifting objects, demolition of buildings and cars can be completed by human beings regardless of the time cost. However, using construction equipment like hydraulic excavators can improve the work efficiency.
This research center consists of multiple collaborative research laboratories, collaborative research, and academic instruction. Research is underway to produce high value-added construction equipment and facilitate efficient work.
Four collaborative research laboratories among the approaches to achieve these will be introduced.
